Half a term gone already!

Hello,

Well, we're two months into the school year ...
... and it's the first post on behalf of the new Year 4 !

Since the beginning of September we have been learning about lots of different things (as you know).

Here are a few pictures to illustrate just a couple of these ...

During maths we spent some time investigating 2D shapes, and in this lesson we were experimenting with tangram puzzles to see what sort of pictures we could create.

Here is a 'running man' ...

... and this was one of our own!

In science we have been learning about how humans move and grow. We have been looking at how our skeletons and muscles work, and have also examined the effects of exercise on the body.

These photos show us undertaking an investigation to find out whether our forearms were the same length as our feet.

We had to make sure that our measurements were accurate so that we could make direct comparisons between our results.

In the end, we discovered that for some children the initial statement was true - results showed that their feet and forearms were in fact exactly the same length.

However, for others this was not the case. Several children found that their measurements differed by a few centimetres or more.

This coming half term we will be learning about what life was like for ordinary people in Tudor times (as our history topic); we will begin by looking at a range of poetry and structured verse in our literacy lessons; in maths we will be dealing with handling data and this will link nicely to work in ICT and science on presenting information graphically.

Hope to have more updates for you soon!
