Designing and making packaging

For our Design and Technology project we had to design, make and evaluate a packet to hold a teacake.

Firstly, we looked at a range of packaging and evaluated the layout, presentation and design of the packets. We looked at the colour, font and graphics and the strength of each packet. Then we used this knowledge to design our own boxes.

Here are a few pictures of the completed boxes.

Roman Art Work

During the Spring Term Mrs Ambrose came in each week to work with a group of us to make a large 8 by 4ft Roman Art picture. We loved working with Mrs Ambrose and are really pleased with the end result! It is going to go up on display in the Key Stage 2 hallway as a permanent display in the school.

V & A Museum

Last week we went to the V&A Museum to study Asian Art. We looked at some of the exhibits in the Chinese, Japanese and Indian rooms and learnt a lot about the symbols and colours used, particularly in Chinese Art. It was extremely interesting and we sketched a lot of the detail we saw on the Emperor's clothes and thrones. We also looked at the Willow Pattern plates and looked at the patterns that could be seen on other porcelain objects. Now we hope to be able to produce our own Asian art.
